Culture

The Government of the Republic of Macedonia will continue nurturing and developing the Macedonian culture in the period between 2011 and 2015. There will be an improvement of the regulation for the publishing conditions in the Republic of Macedonia, the manner of attracting and encouraging foreign investments in the Republic of Macedonia concerning film art, national movie industry, work conditions of the music and art establishments, responsibility and the management with the cultural heritage, proclamation of the old city cores of Krushevo, Bitola and Kratovo as cultural heritage etc. 

 

Cultural projects:

  • Construction of the “Old Theatre” in order to create a modern theatre where art and culture will be nurtured and where stage art activities with high technical performances will be realized (June 2012);
  • Construction of the Concert hall for the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra in order to resolve the long–term institutional problem for the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra which works in rented premises and completely incompatible conditions for decades (June 2013);
  • Construction of the Museum Complex of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence and Statehood – Museum of VMRO and Museum of the Victims of the Communist Regime, which will enable presentation of our rich history (August 2011);
  • Construction of a cultural and educational centre in Tetovo with a new theatre and a library with which the priceless cultural and literary wealth of this town will be preserved;
  • Construction of a theatre in Veles so that the town will get a contemporary theatre building and a representative place as a driving force of the theatre activity; (second half of 2012);
  • Construction of the St Clements’s University, with which the St Clements’s University at Plaoshnik will be renewed and through which Ohrid will acquire a new spiritual and tourist dimension (2014);
  • Construction of a new theatre at the place of MNT, with which by public–private partnership an object will be built where, among others, there will be a theatre, as well.
  • Construction of a new theatre at the place of Dramski theatre by public–private partnership (2015);
  •  Construction of a Turkish Theatre, so that the Turkish community in our country will get their own theatre for the first time (2015);
  • Reconstruction of the Albanian Theatre, a project that will provide a reconstructed and equipped space in accordance with the worldwide standards (2015);
  •  Commencing the construction of the Skenderbeg square in Skopje in collaboration with the local authorities (2011–2014);
  • Construction of a Memorial House of the parents of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Kodzadzik, municipality of Zhupa  (2012);
  • Construction of Gate Macedonia in order to commemorate the most important jubilee of our country – 20 years independence, on September 8th, in honor of the greatest triumph of the Macedonian people in the struggle for freedom and independence (2011);
  • Construction of 20 unified representative prefabricated facilities for the cultural and tourist offer of Macedonia in order to sell cultural–tourist promotional material, souvenirs, sculptures, antiquities and other representative samples;
  • Project  “Renewal of Havzi–Pasha quarters in Bardovci village”, by which the cultural monument  Havzi–Pasha quarters in Bardovci village will be revitalized and, besides the museum values, it will be intended for preservation, storing and presentation of the film cultural heritage of the Republic of Macedonia (2015);
  • Reconstruction of the Universal Hall or a construction of a new facility by means of public–private partnership (2014);
  • Construction of an archeological museum – moving into the new premises near the quay of Vardar (June 2012);
  • The project “Digitalization of the Audiovisual Cultural Heritage” will enable and motivate a wide availability and presentation of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Macedonia (2012–2014);
  • Reconstruction and adaptation of the gallery space in the Museum of Contemporary Art (2014);
  • Reconstruction of Mehmet Pasha Derala’s house in Tetovo (2014);
  • Reconstruction of the Museum of National Art of Macedonia (2014);
  • Reconstruction of the Cultural Centre facilities in Tetovo, Gostivar and Struga (2013–2015);
  • Museum of the banished  from the Aegean part of Macedonia (2014);  
  • Completing the House of Culture in Matejche (2013);
  • Adaptation of the theatre facilities in Kumaovo (2013–2014);
  • Forming a library for the blind within National – University Library St. Clement of Ohrid (2011);
  • Commencing the procedure for nominating Sharena djamija (Decorated mosque) in Tetovo and the Museum of Albanian Alphabet for institutions protected by UNESCO (2012);
  • Support for the children’s theatre in the Old Bazaar in Skopje (2013);
  • Initiative to declare the Kirijazis’ house in Bitola as protected cultural facility (2012);
  • Program support of the festivals “Days of Naim Frasheri” and “Days of the Albanian Theatre”;
  • “Translation of 130 volumes of Macedonian literature in English” (2011);
  • Edition “Stars of World Literature” which contains the best works from world literature translated in Macedonian language (2011–2014);
  • Printing publications on cultural and natural heritage intended for tourist promotion of the Republic of Macedonia (2013–2015);
  • Continuing the project “Translation of the Nobel Prize Winners for Literature”;
  • Reconstruction of museums, old theatres, memorial houses, galleries, movie theatres, libraries and other objects on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia (continuously);
  • Renovation and conservation of number of facades in Skopje, Bitola, Krushevo, Kratovo and other important city cores (2012–2015);
  • Establishing a new institution – “Comedy Theater” specialized in comedy, cabaret, stand–up comedy, comedy in the facilities of the regular theatres (2011);
  • Establishing a new organizational unit within the Macedonian Opera and Ballet – modern dance (2012);
  • Increasing the national filming budget (2012–2015);
  • Construction or adaptation of a film studio, as well as purchase of filming equipment for the purpose of establishing a film center with its own film technical base (2013).

In order to preserve the Macedonian cultural heritage, multiple projects will be conducted in the period between 2011 and 2015, such as projects concerning the archeological research, conservation, restoration, reconstruction and presentation of various localities and medieval churches, monasteries and mosques, as well as other facilities of cultural and historical significance. At the same time, numerous activities relating the archeological research, protection, conservation and restoration of the Macedonian cultural and historical heritage and treasure will be carried out.     

Apart from these activities, in the period between 2011 and 2015 it is envisaged:

  • Organization of the Third Religious Conference on Inter–religious and Inter–civilization Dialogue – May 2013, Ohrid, the Republic of Macedonia;
  • Awarding the 'National Artist' title by the President of the country to artists who have given greatest contribution to the improvement and promotion of the culture and art in the Republic of Macedonia (continuously); 

Awarding pensions to eminent artists and other professional workers who had met the prescribed (continuously);
