From the 48th session of the Government: The package of measures in the education in conditions of COVID-19 crisis has been determined; The school year continues and it will end online; Regulations will be adopted for delayed enrolment in the first grade

The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia at today’s 48th session reviewed and adopted the information with a package of measures in the field of education related to the carrying out of the educational process in conditions of COVID-19 crisis, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES).
The first measure refers to the teaching in the primary and secondary schools which is decided to be organized through distance learning, i.e. learning from home, by applying means of electronic communication, until 10 June 2020.
The application of this measure has been determined in the Decree with force of law for the application of the Law on Primary Education during state of emergency and the Decree with force of law for application of the Law on Secondary Education during state of emergency, in the area of organizing distance learning, i.e. learning from home until the end of the school year, i.e. until 10 June 2020.
The second measure proposes to postpone the enrollment of pupils in the first grade in primary education and stipulates that the enrollment of children in the first grade in primary school for the school year 2020/2021 will be realized in June, and the school will list the enrolled students on the school bulletin board, no later than July 15, 2020.
Other details, as well as the mechanisms by which this measure will be implemented, will be defined by decisions and decrees in the following days. Additionally, in the coming days, the Draft Decree with force of law on exemption of students from the final years of the school year 2019/2020 from taking graduation exam, will be defined.
The Ministry of Education and Science will submit to the Government a proposal to amend the Decree on the implementation of the possibility for enrollment in higher education institutions without taking the secondary education graduation exam for students from the final years in the shool year 2019/2020.
The Government assigned the Ministry of Education and Science to submit a Draft Decree for extension of the deadlines for the validity of the study programs, the validity of which ceased in the academic year 2019/2020.
At this session, the Government adopted an amendment to the Decree on application of the Law on Catering Industry during the state of emergency, whose provisions regulate the time of extension of the validity of the Decision for categorization of catering facilities that expire during the state of emergency.
