Prime Minister Zaev and the President of the European Council Tusk: North Macedonia and its citizens met all conditions for start of negotiations

The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, had a meeting this evening in Brussels and had a sincere conversation in a friendly atmosphere. 

At the meeting attended by the Deputy President of the Government of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov, the interlocutors talked of the current expectations related to tomorrow’s meeting of the European Council. 

 

 

The meeting reiterated and reaffirmed the success achieved by the Republic of North Macedonia in the past two and a half years and unanimously concluded that our country and the citizens met all conditions for decision for start of negotiations, by taking bold steps and introducing serious reforms. 

The talk in Brussels was dominated by the joint expectation that the leaders of EU member states at tomorrow’s meeting will invest their efforts to reach a consensual decision related to the commencement of negotiations for North Macedonia.
