PM Zaev meets MEPs Kyuchyuk and Ciolos: Unreserved support for opening of negotiations between North Macedonia and EU

Today the President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, within the frames of his two-day visit to the institutions of EU in Brussels, accompanied by the Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and the Head of the Mission of North Macedonia to the EU, Agneza Rusi-Popovska, had separate meetings with MEP Ilhan Kjuchyuk, rapporteur for North Macedonia and the chairman of the parliamentary group “Renew Europe”, Dacian Ciolos. 

At both meetings in the Mission of North Macedonia in Brussels, marked as excellent, strong support for expressed for opening of negotiations between the European Union and the Republic of North Macedonia, which, as was underlined, has fulfilled its obligations. 

The interlocutors said that the accession process should focus on the European Acqui and concluded that all other issues unrelated to the European Acquis, must be addressed bilaterally. 

At the meetings Prime Minister Zaev extended his appreciation to MEPs Ciolos and Khjuchyuk for the principled support provided so far by the parliamentary group “Renew Europe” within the European Parliament while expressing hope that that will also be the case in future.
