Oliver Spasovski

Oliver Spasovski was born on October 21, 1976 in Kumanovo. He completed primary and secondary school in his hometown. He graduated from the "Iustinianus Primus" Faculty of Law at the "St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, where he is currently a master student in Administrative Law.
He started his professional career in 2000 as a trainee lawyer. In the period from 2001 to 2005 he worked as an advisor to the mayor of the Municipality of Kumanovo. From 2008 to 2011 he was the Secretary of the Municipality of Kumanovo.
Spasovski was a Member of the Parliament in the periods 2006 to 2008, 2011 to 2014 and 2016 to 2017. In the last parliamentary elections in 2020, he regained the trust of the citizens and was elected a Member of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia.
In the mandate 2011 to 2014 he was Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly for Cooperation with the Parliament of Ukraine and a member of the Delegation of the Assembly to the Parliamentary Committee on Stabilization and Association, the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly for Cooperation with the Parliament of the People's Republic of China, the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Portuguese Republic and the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Slovenia.
In the period November 11, 2015 to May 18, 2016 and in the period September 2, 2016 to December 28, 2016, Spasovski held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs in the transitional Government, which was to provide conditions for conducting fair and democratic elections.
He also held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs in the period May 31, 2017 to January 3, 2020 in the first term of the Government led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
On January 3, 2020, he was elected Prime Minister of the Transitional Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, a position he held until August 30, 2020.
Oliver Spasovski serves as a Minister of Internal Affairs in the second term of the Government led by the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev since August 30, 2020.
In the period 2003 to 2004, Spasovski was a member of the Presidency of the Central Board of SDSM, and from 2005 to 2006 he was the Organizational Secretary of SDSM.
From 2013 to 2017 he held the position of Secretary General of SDSM, and in 2017 he was elected Vice President of SDSM.
Spasovski speaks English and French. He is married and father of two.
