North Macedonia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Independence as a country with a European future rooted in its best traditions

Independence is not given to us but is the work of many generations guided by the ideal of a free and independent state. With the best of the past, we have created a country with a very certain European future. To preserve the homeland for us and for future generations, are the key messages sent by President Stevo Pendarovski, Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, and Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, on the occasion of the Jubilee - 30 years of Independence of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Day of Independence - September 8.

"We do not have a spare homeland. This is our only, common home, and it will be a decent place to live only if each of us invests our labor and our conscience in it. "I am convinced that if each of us invests in that cause to the end, without remnants, without calculations, then we will have a state that we will all be proud of," said President Stevo Pendarovski.

Today, when we celebrate the historical state continuity, we should not lose sight of the fact that having our own, independent state is a great privilege, but also a great responsibility, underlined the President of the country.

The President of the Assembly Xhaferi also focused on the current challenges the country faces such as the pandemic with Covid-19 and stressed that despite the great challenges we went through, we have the strength, will, determination, and vision of where we want to see our country in the future - Republic of North Macedonia, and what kind of home we wish and build for our citizens.

"We have a common state and we are all responsible to preserve and develop it, for us and for the future generations," said Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi at the end of the video address as part of the program marking the 30th anniversary of Independence.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that we celebrate one of the holiest and brightest dates in the history of our country and that precisely this generation has had the historical honor to gain Independence and to preserve and develop our statehood.

"As a country formed with a just struggle, as a country that won its Independence with dignity and without violence, our country has gained a special reputation in the world and has gained the confidence to be a desired strategic partner in the circle of Western Democracies, underlined the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Prime Minister Zaev also added that we resolutely reached the Agreement on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation with Bulgaria and the Prespa Agreement with Greece and made an international breakthrough, thus realizing one of the strategic goals - NATO membership.

"NATO membership is a sovereign expression of our choice that we want to be part of the Euro-Atlantic community of democracies. NATO membership is the greatest contribution of our generation to our security and stability. The strongest guarantee for the protection of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of North Macedonia ", emphasized the Prime Minister in his address at the central ceremony on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The solemn program on the occasion of Independence Day and the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of North Macedonia was filled with content that presented the Macedonian social mosaic, with a premiere symphony, and with visual and musical performances.
