Computer Science and Engineering Faculty gets new laboratories

The Skopje-based Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI) was equipped Thursday with four highly-sophisticated laboratories in amount of Euro 1.5 million, which are part of an Euro 60 million project led by the government.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, who attended the inauguration ceremony together with Minister of Education and Science Pance Kralev, said that these laboratories and those previously procured would turn the faculty into one of the best equipped higher education institutions in the region of Southeast Europe.

"By procuring these laboratories, we are doing, I would say, a revolutionary job for all universities in Macedonia. We are advancing science, providing excellent opportunities for students, professors and businessmen... This investment is one of the biggest in the sphere of education and science since the independence of Macedonia," PM Gruevski stated.

The investment includes a laboratory for calculating high performances, laboratory for mobile and multimedia applications, server laboratory and parallel and distributed computing laboratory.

All faculties in Macedonia will be able to use the equipment for free, while the private sector will have to pay a minimum fee.
