Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Skopje Mayor Koce Trajanov formally set into work the overhauled "St. Kliment Ohridski" boulevard on Tuesday, which now, after the completion of the second reconstruction stage, has a total of six 3.5m lanes.
“After a two-stage reconstruction St.Kliment Ohridski has become a wide, functional boulevard and one that enables better traffic flow”, Mr. Gruevski said at the opening ceremony.
“Skopje”, he said, “is no longer the same as it was three, four years ago. It has become a large construction cite. Construction works are underway across the whole city”, he said, mentioning the construction, overhauling of streets, boulevards, ring roads, bridges, buildings, multi story car parks, facades...
“Step by step, a large portion of citizens' problems are being solved”, Gruevski said, pointing out that the Government will keep supporting each solid project of municipalities and their mayors who wish to do something more for the citizens.
The second stage reconstruction -- a project of about EUR 488,000 - covered 380m, while the first one -- worth about EUR 600,000 - covered 524m of the boulevard.
