The Government establishes Information Forensic Lab

The Government decided to start the project for establishment of an Information Forensic Lab aimed at prevention, detection and providing evidence against perpetrators of crime in the sphere of financial crime.

The Lab will be put into operation during 2013, Government Spokesperson Aleksandar Gjorgjiev said at Saturday’s press conference.

Experiences from similar special units in the state administrations in Sweden and Denmark have been used.

Mr. Gjorgjiev said that in terms of the action plan approved by the government for realisation of the project, changes will be made to the law on public revenues and the law on tax procedures aimed at precisely defining its role in the system, functions and sphere of work.

The Information Forensic Lab will be organised within the Public Revenue Office, in the General Tax Inspectorate as a special sector under the special controls inspectorate, Spokesperson Gjorgjiev said.

The people that will work in the lab will have intensified trainings for upgrade of their knowledge and skills according to foreign experiences. The process of preparation and providing modern and sophisticated equipment for the Lab is underway.
