PM Gruevski voices support of Diaspora voting right
The Diaspora is an inseparable part of the Macedonia's tissue and staunch supporter of the country. It should preserve the right to vote and has its representative in the Parliament as a symbolic gesture of the state to extend gratitude for its support, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters Monday in Berovo.
Regardless of the reasons for departing Macedonia, most of the emigrants grant assistance to the country, follow the developments in the fatherland and contribute to its development, Gruevski said.
Hence, I would appeal to all political parties for the Diaspora to not be deprived of its voting right and parliamentary representation, Gruevski said.
The Government, he said, is open to review any remarks related to the process for election of deputies representing the Macedonian nationals living abroad, the PM said.
