Osmani – Reinsalu: Estonia Supports North Macedonia OSCE Chairpersonship Priorities

Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani had a telephone conversation today with his Estonian counterpart, Foreign Minister, Urmas Reinsalu.

The focus of the talks the two ministers had was on the broken security architecture of Europe and the way of dealing with ongoing challenges in that respect, particularly in light of this year’s North Macedonia chairpersonship of the OSCE and efforts to end the military aggression against Ukraine.

Minister Osmani shared to his Estonian counterpart his impressions from the recent visit to Ukraine and the meetings he had there with the Ukrainian national leadership, stressing that Ukraine is the main priority of the incumbent North Macedonia OSCE chairpersonship.

"Faced with the comprehensive consequences of the military aggression against a sovereign and independent European country, we remain committed to ensuring the implementation of the principles and values of the OSCE, as well as to adhering to the approach of unity and solidarity in dealing with the overall consequences of the war that we are all feeling," Osmani said.

Speaking in that context, the two ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to the spirit and letter of the OSCE Decalogue.

Estonian Foreign Minister Reinsalu, on his part, reaffirmed Estonia's consistent support for the EU integration of North Macedonia, offering his encouragement to our country to continue with its ongoing reforms to ensure value for all Macedonian citizens.

The two ministers also discussed the ongoing positive momentum in the bilateral relations and expansion of cooperation between North Macedonia and Estonia, and particularly in the area of digitization by North Macedonia using Estonian experiences in the modernization and digitization of Macedonian society – facts which were reaffirmed during the visit that Minister Osmani paid to Estonia in November 2022.
