New school sports hall put into function in central Macedonia
The first-ever sports hall in an elementary school in the municipality of Rosoman in central Macedonia was put into function Sunday by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Deputy Education Minister Spiro Ristovski and the mayor of Rosoman municipality, Stojance Lazov.
The sports hall is part of a government-run project for the construction of 145 school sports halls, which is an investment worth MKD 24 million.
The hall features conditions and equipment for sporting activities and physical education. In the facility, children will have the chance to exercise and develop their talents in sports. Also, sport clubs will have a place to hold trainings.
“This day triggers mixed feelings – feelings of joy and sorrow. Sorrow because generations of students have been raised in these regions that did not have their own sports halls and quality conditions for physical education while going to school. It is sad that no one before had shown the slightest interest to change this situation,” said Gruevski.
According to him, not only Rosoman and this school, but also many other places in Macedonia have never had sports hall before.
Speaking at the inauguration, the PM referred to other projects realized in the municipality, such as the construction of a football field, a multifunctional sports playground as well as works to repair several regional schools, reconstruction of local roads, etc.
With the construction of a sports hall in Pere Tosev elementary school, adequate conditions for physical education are created for nearly 400 pupils and the facility will be also made available for all interested Rosoman inhabitants to exercise or organize sporting events and cultural manifestations, said Deputy Minister Ristovski.
Later in the day, PM Gruevski was also joined by Deputy Minister Spiro Ristovski and mayor Lazov in the village of Palikura to open a new school that is set to function as part of the Pere Tosev elementary school.
The new school, Gruevski said, offers new and improved conditions for attending classes.
Before the new school was built, local students attended classes in an old prefabricated building, which will be as of now on used for different needs of the municipality.
During his visit to the region of Kavadarci, PM Gruevski also visited the local Dräxlmaier plant to hold a meeting with its management.
