Gruevski: Investments in road infrastructure - new impulse in economic development
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Sunday about 230km of roads were currently built in Macedonia, engaging over 2,500 workers.
"This number will rise in the coming months and years. The construction of a motorway section Kicevo-Ohrid is significant for the people living in the region, but also tourists and the companies engaged as sub-contractors", PM Gruevski told reporters during his visit to the Ohrid-Struga region.
He said an environmental study on express road Ohrid-Pestani was being developed.
"We will be very careful regarding the related environmental aspects. If everything goes as planned, we expect the start of construction works by the end of this year or the onset of 2016", added Gruevski.
He said the release of the public call on finding a concessionaire for the Kicevo-Gostivar motorway section was in the final stage.
According to him, these are significant endeavors due to provide fresh impulse in the region's economic development, but also the construction and tourism sectors.
