A new museum exhibition showcasing the development of Macedonia’s cinematography will be displayed at the Cinematheque of Macedonia as part of a project intended to adequately preserve and promote items of historic value for Macedonian cinema and culture.

The project is part of a government’s action plan regarding the national institution “Vardar Film Macedonia”.

The museum display, set to be completed next year, will be inaugurated at an event marking the 40^th anniversary of the Cinematheque of Macedonia.

“The permanent museum exhibition at the Cinematheque of Macedonia will be of cultural and educational character and the entire process of the development of Macedonia’s cinematography, with an emphasis on Vardar Film, will be presented through museum items, documents, photographs, film projectors, editing desks and other objects,” Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska told a news conference on Tuesday.

Director of the Cinematheque of Macedonia Mimi Gjorgoska-Ilievska said the museum exhibition would be open to mark a milestone – the 40^th anniversary of the Cinematheque of Macedonia and the 10^th anniversary of the Cinematheque’s movie theatre, which is going to be digitized for the upcoming season.

“The exhibition, displayed on an area of 800 square meters, will cover all the segments from the chain of filmmaking, including the onset of the art of film, film production, distribution and ultimately, the final link of the chain – preservation of cinematic heritage, stated Gjorgoska-Ilievska.
