PM Gruevski: Government projects contribute to development of tourism
In addition to the two beaches along Prespa Lake coast, the construction of those in Dojran are completed. The construction of Lagadin beach in Ohrid is also set to start soon, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters on Sunday.
The Government's projects for continuous development of tourism will resume, Gruevski said during his visit of a new beach in Stenje - a project of EUR 950.000.
"This beach is part of our activities for developing the tourism, investing in the tourist offer and overall funding of this sphere. We have invested a lot in promotion, subsiding of tour-operators, new air traffic routes, as well as new offer for incoming tourists, everything that is needed to attract people to choose Macedonia as their tourist destination," Gruevski said.
He pointed out that the number of tourists in the first five months of 2015 was higher for 8.3 percent, while the rise of the number of foreign tourists in Macedonia was at 17.00%.
TAV, operator of two Macedonian airports, said recently that number of passengers increased for 28.00% in comparison to the same month last year. In the first seven months of this year, the number of passengers is higher for 17.00 percent in comparison to same period in 2014.
All of the Government's investments yield results, Gruevski said, pointing out that the number of tourists in Macedonia was doubled from 2007 to 2014.
