Government doubles funds for new rural development program
The new program for rural development envisages the implementation of 221 projects in 81 municipalities through funds provided by the government. Its goal is to improve the living conditions in rural areas, PM Nikola Gruevski stated Monday in Berovo calling the rural development program ‘one of the government’s key projects.’
“Despite seeing many investments in this respect, with the new program a lot more are expected in many municipalities. Certificates have been presented in 81 municipalities allocating nearly EUR 39 million to fund 221 projects that will be implemented in rural areas, mainly in smaller settlements,” Gruevski told reporters.
According to him, projects include roads linking local roads and streets within villages, water supply systems, sewage canals, parks, squares…
The program is expected to be implemented as of 2016 and possibly in the next couple of years.
EUR 20 million was provided in line with the previous government program for rural development.
