SOS Children's Village to get state financing in 2012
As of next spring, the Government will be involved in the financing of SOS Children's Village, which is an excellent model for child care, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said on Wednesday after visiting the institution.
"I'm visiting the SOS Children's Village to wish the children happy new year and to convey a message that state authorities are always here to help them. An information has been already enacted envisaging the Government to start financing the SOS Children's Village in 2012. Thus far, it was mostly funded by an international humanitarian organization and by local donors," Gruevski said praising the staff for its excellent work.
The PM, accompanied by Minister of Labor and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski, handed over gifts to the children and donated a LCD television set, DVD player and sporting equipment.
The SOS Children's Village in Skopje celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2011.
SOS children's villages have been opened in 132 countries worldwide since 1949.
