PM Gruevski addresses UN Sustainable Development Summit
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski addressed Sunday the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, saluting the universal agenda for poverty reduction and improvement of the citizens' well-being.
Gruevski said the sustainable development goals should be achieved through united forces in partnership at a global, regional, national and local level, highlighting the commitment of countries in Central and Eastern Europe to the realization of these goals.
"The Central European Initiative, chaired by the Republic of Macedonia, wants to be actively involved in the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda, while member-states express their readiness for concrete regional contribution, know-how transfer and exchange of best practices in sustainable development initiatives, capacity building of public institutions and awareness raising", stressed PM Gruevski.
He said the Macedonian Government has provided its active contribution to the common goals, integrating the principles of sustainable development in the country's national policies.
"We have established a National Council and adopted the National Sustainable Development Strategy. Sustainable development goals are to be included in our strategic documents, including the Sustainable Development Action Plan. We also expect support through the new United Nations Development Action Framework (UNDAF), prepared in consultations with all relevant stakeholders", added Gruevski.
He emphasized Macedonia's active participation in the implementation of the sustainable development concept, including the support of socially vulnerable groups and stimulation of employment.
PM Gruevski also referred to the active policies and measures supporting the youth and achievement of gender equality.
