Prime Minister Gruevski meets with municipal officials over infrastructure priorities

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski held a meeting on Sunday evening with Government Ministers and municipal leaders to examine a number of requests submitted by citizens from across the country. The Government informed that one of the requests that was approved at the meeting was to build a new swimming pool in Shuto Orizari, one of the poorest municipalities in Macedonia and the only majority Roma municipality.
 
The Youth and Sports Agency will be in charge of the program, that was requested at meetings with citizens from Shuto Orizari. Another request, for reconstruction of the water supply network in the area of Dolno Lisice, in the western suburbs of the capital Skopje, was discussed with the manager of the Skopje Water Utility Company Aleksandar Atanasov, who said that the company is working with the municipality of Aerodrom to partially reconstruct the system in 2016, and partially in 2018 and 2019. The municipality of Kisela Voda also agreed to provide a plan for reconstruction of the water and sewage network in the southern suburbs of Babin Dol and Pripor by mid February, after which the Government and the Kisela Voda municipality will identify possible sources for funding.
 
At the meeting, it was also agreed to reconstruct the road between Krilatica and Kratovo, in Eastern Macedonia, providing for a new road between the municipalities of Rankovce and Kratovo. A number of sports infrastructure projects were also discussed, with plans for several sports fields across Skopje, and an agreement to open all municipally managed sports halls open to the public for free for two hours each week. The Government announced that similar meetings between the Prime Minister, ministers, Government and municipal officials will continue in the coming days.
