Gruevski: Unemployment decreased to 25.5%, 13% less than in 2006

Nearly 12.000 people have been employed in this quarter in Macedonia. The trend continues and the unemployment rate has dropped to 25.5 percent which is a decrease of nearly 13 percent since we took power, PM Nikola Gruevski stated on Saturday.

The unemployment rate is decreasing since we took power. We have the biggest drop in a quarter, i.e. 1.3 percent. Nearly 12.000 people have been employed and this trend continues. In the months of July, August and September the unemployment was decreased from 26.8 percent to 25.5 percent in a quarter, and since we took power from 38 percent was reduced to 25.5 percent which is nearly 13 percent, Gruevski underlined.

Most importantly at the time when we came to power, 560.000 people were employed and today 711.000 are employed which means during this period 150.000 new jobs were opened, he emphasised.

It was a huge success especially considering what we have gone through in these years of global crisis that lasted four years and European debt crisis which also lasted two - three years, Gruevski said.

He expressed hopes that the following statistics for this quarter – October, November and December - the unemployment rates will again be reduced even may be better due to the managing the economy.
