A Park of Lakes is being built as of Sunday in the Skopje municipality of Aerodrom nearby the quay of Vardar river. 60 million denars (nearly one million euros) are to be invested in the water park, which will be completed in four-months' time.

It will cover an area of 11.000 square meters - of those 1.800 square meters of water area with four small lakes.

"Investments in such parks are always justified and necessary. Such places are necessary for relaxing walks," said PM Nikola Gruevski, who together with the mayors of Skopje and Aerodrom municipality - Koce Trajanovski and Ivica Konevski - marked the start of construction works.

"Citizens, usually limited by time and finances, are forced to stay at home or at work, which is why this kind of relaxation is needed in the vicinity of their homes. Thus, the municipalities and the City of Skopje seek ways to fulfill the requirements of citizens by implementing projects," Gruevski said.

He urged other municipalities to follow the example of the municipality of Aerodrom and to invest in water parks.
