The construction sector is the pillar of the Macedonian economy. Only in nine months last year it grew by 12% and such trend is expected to continue in the future. Construction companies in the first months of 2016 note growth in sales of apartments and expect government-subsidized housing projects to contribute in this, it was said Tuesday at opening ceremony of the construction fair.

More than 3,000 apartments and 3,000 state-owned lots will be presented by March 5 at the Construction and Real Estate Fair at Skopje Fair. The fair is held for a second consecutive year under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance.

Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski opened the fair who said that construction sector is important branch in government’s economic strategies and policies. It represents a support to the economy, which is supported in many ways. He underlined that the fair will present offer of apartments, houses and construction materials.

The partnership of the Ministry of Finance through two government-subsidized housing projects with the Construction Fair creates synergy offering the visitors quality information and rich offer, he added.

Thirteen municipalities, four in Skopje region, offer more than 3,000 state lots suitable for the housing project for young people at the fair.

Mayor of Ilinden municipality Zika Stojanovski said that this municipality offers 500 lots within ‘Jaka’ project, which ideal for rural areas.

Prilep has 370 lots with a starting price of one euro per square meter, Prilep mayor Marjan Risteski said adding that citizens showed interest for these lots after the presentation of government housing project for young people.

Robert Hot from the Construction Chamber within Macedonian Chambers of Commerce said that the construction sector is expected remain driving force of the Macedonian economy for at least the next four years.

He also underlined that the real estate market is stable and does not expect reduction in prices of apartments.

Vanco Cifliganec from Adora Engineering said that the prices of apartments are favorable for the offered quality. The sales of the apartments have grown this year and favorable apartment’s loans and low deposit interest rate have contributed to this.

During the fair construction companies along with banks and insurance companies will also offer discounts and additional benefits to visitors.
