FM Poposki meets EU enlargement commissioner in Brussels
Talks focused on preserving the pace of Macedonia's EU integration and the possibility for its ongoing reforms to be valorized, thus enabling steady progress, which in any case will have favorable effect on maintaining the credibility of the enlargement process, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki said Tuesday in Brussels after meeting EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule.
There are strong arguments at the moment in favor of opening the next phase of EU-Macedonia negotiations, which is a positive signal for the entire region, the FM said.
"We should seize this opportunity and I believe that all EU members are to be committed to and act in this direction," Poposki said.
For the last two days in Brussels, Poposki held talks with numerous MEPs, including the European Parliament rapporteur for Macedonia, Richard Howitt.
"The meetings offered an exceptional opportunity to present the achievements in the outgoing year and notify the significance the European Parliament has been attaching to maintaining the credibility of the EU integration process of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as the entire region," Poposki said.
