New museum exhibition opens in Goce Delcev’s memorial room
New exhibition is opened Friday in the memorial room of Macedonian revolutionary Goce Delcev placed in “Sveti Spas” church complex. Also book titled “Creation of Contemporary Macedonian State” written by four authors, published by “Makedonika litera” and supported by Ministry of Culture is promoted.
The multimedia exhibition includes documents, photographs, documentary and feature footage, artwork related to the life and work of Goce Delcev (1872-1903). It also presents significant periods of his life, education and revolutionary action, preparations for the liberation struggle, the periods before and after the Ilinden Uprising, Delcev’s tragic death and the transfer of his remains.
Exhibition was set up by expert’s team of the Conservation Centre of the City of Skopje and its author is Rumen Kjamilov.
I believe that with the new display, “Sveti Spas” church complex will become an information center which will be visited by many visitors, students, researchers to enrich their knowledge of known and unknown regions of the rich Macedonian history, Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said.
The monograph "Creation of the Contemporary Macedonian State", written by historians Vlado Popovski, Vanco Gjorgjiev, Zoran Todorovski and Violeta Ackoska, was also promoted today in the memorial room. Culture Minister said that the monograph contains facts and arguments on the key moments of the Macedonian struggle for freedom and statehood and through it the truth about Macedonia, the Macedonian struggle, the name and identity will become more understandable to many people worldwide.
The new exhibition and book were promoted in the year which marks the 70th anniversary of the transfer of the relics of Goce Delcev from Sofia to Skopje and 25 years since Macedonia’s independence.
