Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska Milevska extended congratulations Tuesday to Canadian writer Margaret Atwood on her 'Golden Wreath' award, bestowed by the Struga Poetry Evenings (SPE) festival to a world-renowned living poet for life achievement.

With this award Atwood enters the house of the bards of world poetry, Kanceska Milevska said.

"Atwood is a representative of a generation of authors that above all have touched the personal and emotional history of people. I am glad that this year the festival welcomed 32 poets from 30 countries, who contributed substantially to SPE's promotion," the Culture Minister said.

The Ministry of Culture and the Government, she said, will keep supporting this manifestation as Macedonia's best national brand, which respects the languages of all people.

Expressing satisfaction for being the SPE laureate, Atwood said the festival offered her an opportunity to meet various poets and learn a lot about Macedonia.
