As of 2017, five million trees will be planed annually within traditional event "Tree Day" and the Programme for enlarged reproduction of forests, said Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev on Wednesday.

"This is aimed at promoting our responsibility in protecting the environment and securing a healthy surrounding", stressed Dimitriev, who planted a tree at a kindergarten in Kocani.

Since the launch of the "Tree Day" campaign in 2008, Macedonia has been afforested with 35 million seedlings.

Over 2.6 million trees will be planted Wednesday on an area of 503 hectares at some 60 sites across Macedonia.
