Dimitriev-Hahn: Sovereignty to be respected in deciding over national issues
Caretaker Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev and Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations at Thursday’s meeting underlined that it is important sovereignty to be respected in deciding over state and national issues.
Dimitriev and Hahn welcomed the parliamentary elections in Macedonia conducted in fair, credible and democratic manner and presented their opinions and views on different aspects of current political situation.
They emphasized the importance and the need of Macedonia’s membership in the EU thus positively assessing the mutual relations.
Reforms needed to promote standards in all spheres and commitment for continuation of the cooperation in their implementation was underscored at the meeting.
Hahn said that EU respects our country’s integrity and European future. Interlocutors underlined the importance of respect of the sovereignty in deciding over state and national issues.
Dimitriev said that the government is committed to implementation of all necessary activities to lead the country and implementation of the strategic goals for European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He said that the statements and actions of certain politicians from neighbouring countries which cause negative emotions among the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia are not aimed at promoting good neighbourly relations, adding that our country will continue to implement policies for cooperation with all stakeholders in the region in areas of common interest.
