Minister of Transport and Communications Vlado Misajlovski announced Tuesday the construction and rehabilitation of roads and motorways throughout Macedonia in the course of 2017.

"This year we will begin the construction and rehabilitation of a record number of roads. Moreover, we will build and rehabilitate over 200km of motorways throughout Macedonia", Misajlovski told a press conference.

Three new express roads exceeding 100km and worth about EUR 250 million will also be built.

"Works are underway on four regional roads, whereas the construction and rehabilitation of 37 others, an investment worth over EUR 55 million, is to begin soon", added Misajlovski.

The minister also announced the rehabilitation of Veles-Gradsko and Skopje-Kumanovo motorways, worth EUR 7,8 million of IPA funds.

"The planning of new motorway sections Gostivar-Kicevo and Skopje-Blace is underway. We would also like to start the procedure for the Kicevo-Gostivar section, which would be an enormous endeavor", added Misajlovski.

In addition, the streets destroyed in last year's floods in the Skopje region will also be rehabilitated this year.
