FM Poposki: EU integration - the best guarantee for Balkan stability
Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki in Vienna met with Sebastian Kurz, Austria's Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
The foreign ministers discussed regional stability and the necessity of countries in the region joining the EU, considered the best guarantee for prosperity in the Balkans, Macedonia's Foreign Ministry (MoFA) said Friday in a press release.
"Whatever happens in the region, whatever the challenges, if EU membership seems achievable, it will stabilize all the countries all the while relaxing challenges inside the Union. The migrant crisis, ge-political developments, threats from radicalism and terrorism and global competitiveness are just a few of the latest examples that we are sharing the same interests. It is merely logical to want to be united over one cause - to be part of the EU and the common market is probably the simplest of guarantees for peace and development in Macedonia and the region," Minister Poposki said after the meeting.
The meeting was held during Poposki's visit to Vienna, where he addressed a session of the OSCE Permanent Council.
