Cornerstone for new "Stiv Naumov" student dormitory laid
Cornerstone laying ceremony for construction of new "Stiv Naumov" student dormitory in Skopje was held Sunday.
Student dormitory will include facilities at an area of 1.895 sqm for accommodation of 204 students. The rooms will have three beds and bathroom and six one-bedrooms for persons with special needs.
The total investment at amount to Denar 75 million is provided by budget of the Republic of Macedonia. The construction works will be finished within eight months.
PM Nikola Gruevski and Education Minister Pance Kralev who attended cornerstone laying ceremony of new student dormitory said that investment in student dormitories are part of the package of reforms in the education as well as part of the government’s efforts in providing equal conditions for studying of all students in Macedonia.
We are continuing to realise a complex strategy for overall investment in the largest potential in Macedonia and it is the youth and future generations, Gruevski said.
He said that the largest “Goce Delcev” student dormitory will be reconstructed and new accommodation capacities will be built in Skopje, Tetovo and Stip.
He also mentioned that fees at the faculties are reduced, also new faculties and dispersed studies are opened, new equipment and apparatuses in laboratories are provided. Also measures are undertaken to direct young people to studies and vocations, which are demanded at labour markets, he said.
Education Minister Kralev said that investment in student dormitories is a stimulus for raising the education level of the citizens in Macedonia by which the country will be in the group of countries with high percentage of highly educated personnel.
