Macedonia committed to projects to build infrastructure on corridors 8 and 10: minister
Macedonia is committed to implementing projects along the corridors 8 and 10 in an attempt to improve transport infrastructure and to bolster the quality of services and competitiveness of our network on these corridors, Minister of Transport and Communications Vlado Misajlovski said Thursday at a ministerial meeting in Sofia.
The meeting, which brings together ministers of transport of Western Balkan countries, focuses on discussing ways on how to meet the goals of the Investment Plan for Europe, including the main network of European transport corridors as part of the EU and its continuation in Western Balkan countries.
Minister Misajlovski presented the infrastructural projects implemented by the government of Macedonia related to the corridors 8 and 10 as well as the activities carried out to improve the connectability between the region and the EU countries, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a press release.
In his address, Misajlovski called the corridors 'the most vital transport links with the countries in Central and Southeastern Europe.'
"We are strongly committed to realizing projects along the two corridors - projects that will contribute to improving the overall transport infrastructure and increasing the quality of services and competitiveness of our networks...The government of Macedonia is making efforts to build a modern, safe and integrated transport system adapted to the needs prompting economic development of the country," he said pinpointing the importance of financial support from the EU to complete the projects.
Representatives of the European Commission, led by Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, attend the ministerial meeting together with officials of international financial institutions, including the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
