New government’s reform commitment hailed at Zaev-Garrett meeting
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Wednesday with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Charles Edmund Garrett.
At the meeting Garrett hailed commitment of the Prime Minister Zaev and new government towards reform processes that will open perspectives for the citizens and for the state, constructive and inclusive policies as well as his sincere approach to mingle positive energy in the society towards common good.
Garrett conveyed congratulations by British PM Theresa May to Zaev on assumption of duty as Prime Minister with clearly expressed hope that the new government opens the way to progress of the Republic of Macedonia.
After long years of political crisis, the new government has an important opportunity to implement much-needed reforms, reads the note.
British PM May encouraged the commitment of the Government for strengthening the rule of law, implementing the required judicial reforms and building independent institutions.
All these matters are important for Macedonia's stability and progress on the Euro-Atlantic path, reads May’s congratulation note to PM Zaev.
Zaev underlined that the Government is strongly committed for visible movement of reform process which opens Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic prospects. Zaev said that he expected the first results of the reforms in September, expressing hopes that the second phase of serious reforms will begin which are necessary for the citizens’ quality of life and integration processes.
He also underlined that the new Government is committed to building common European future with the neighbours in the interest to stability of the region and its development.
Garrett stressed that the UK remains a great friend of Macedonia on the path of democratic and integration processes in the interest of the citizens of Macedonia and is closely interested in stability, security and prosperity of the entire region.
