Gruevski: Economy is stable, foreign currency reserves satisfactory
The economy is stable, the financial system is safe, foreign currency reserves are satisfactory, whereas indebtedness and budget deficit are low, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski after Tuesday's visit to a Skopje kindergarten.
"We are closely monitoring eurozone developments, and we will undertake certain steps if necessary. Things are developing according to projections thus far. We had high growth in the first half of the year, but we projected a slowdown due to the EU debt crisis, and that is exactly what happened. However, there is still growth, which is good. We will continue to monitor developments and implement our program, but also undertake additional measures, if necessary", Gruevski told reporters.
Pertaining to the project for construction of tourism zones around country's lakes, the PM said certain land sections would be selected for construction of hotels and tourism development.
"We referred to this project at the last session of the Tourism Committee, whereas the law on establishing these tourism zones is in development. The law would enable certain territories along the Ohrid, Prespa and Dojran lakes to be intended for construction of hotels and other recreational content related to hospitality", added Gruevski.
Sites will initially be offered as a whole, but if this does not yield fruits, they will be sold partially for construction of hotels.
"Special benefits will be provided for these zones, in order to attract investors who would build hotels, resulting in more tourists, profit, jobs", underlined PM Gruevski.
