Minister Saraqini meets Ukrainian ambassador
Measures for improving cooperation in the field of tourism between Macedonia and Ukraine was the focal point of Tuesday's meeting between Economy Minister Valon Saraqini and Ukraine's ambassador Yurii Honcharuk.
Ambassador Honcharuk presented his country's priorities as a presidency holder of the Central European Initiative (CEI), stating that the focus was on promotion and development of regional tourism. He also put forward a proposal on creating a single tourist area in the region, such as the free trade zone, which would facilitate CEI members in establishing common tourist projects.
Minister Saraqini said that tourism could be developed only by modernising and improving transportation and by facilitating trips beyond borders. He underlined the importance of bolstering tourism cooperation between the countries.
The number of Ukrainian tourists has been increased as a result of Macedonia's promotion as an attractive tourist destination.
