Raising awareness of children on sustainable ecological and financial development and savings is the goal of a programme which will be implemented in kindergartens. Minister of Labour and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski and programme director of OXO civic association Aleksandra Mladenovska-Kostic signed Friday a memorandum of cooperation regarding the programme.

"The programme primarily aims at making kindergartens eco-friendly and at raising environmental awareness of little children by preparing manuals, picture books, games, etc. The programme envisages educational institutions to organise practical classes on daily bases. Hence, environmental awareness will be raised of present and future generations for sustainable ecological and financial development and savings," Minister Ristovski said after signing the document.

Environmental protection has been already taught in kindergartens, but activities are expected to be heightened with the signing of the memorandum, according to Ristovski.

The programme is already being implemented in all elementary and high schools in Macedonia.

"Projects focused on raising environmental awareness of children have been already realised in kindergartens, however the programme will help activities to be better organised and better results to be achieved," Mladenovska-Kostic stated.

The programme "Integration of Ecological Education in Macedonia's Educational System" is implemented with funds provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
