DM Besimi meets NATO Deputy-Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy
Minister of Defense Fatmir Besimi met Tuesday in Skopje with the NATO Deputy-Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Stefanie Babst after taking part at a regional conference "Goals of UN Resolution 1325 - Degree of Viability".
Minister Besimi at the meeting, organised upon a request by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia - the host of the day-long conference, welcomed the initiative and informed Babst on the percentage of women engaged in the Macedonian Army and Ministry of Defense.
The Minister added that efforts were being made to increase the percentage of the representation of women in the army and in peace missions.
President of Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic Council Lazar Elenovski urged a national action plan on the implementation of the UN resolution to be adopted in due time, which was "of great importance for Macedonia."
The NATO Public Diplomacy Division covers all activities aimed at promoting the image of the Alliance and establishing cooperation with political, diplomatic, administrative, academic and media circles.
