First university veterinary hospital opens in Macedonia

First university veterinary hospital in Macedonia has been opened Wednesday at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The hospital worth €100.000 is fully funded by the SS. Cyril and Methodius University.

It is fully equipped with modern apparatuses, operating room, little animals dispensary, biochemical and microbiology laboratory, x-ray machine, ECHO and EKG diagnostics apparatuses.

- Hospital will contribute to advance training of academic staff and improved scientific and research activity. At the same conditions will be created for learning, helping and treating large number of animals, which was realised until now in improvised conditions, Education Minister Pance Kralev stated after opening of the hospital.

Highly skilled team of experts in different spheres will provide assistance on a daily basis to all those who are in a need of top veterinary service.

Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Hospital Dane Mitrov said that the hospital will provide services in resolving fertility problems, artificial insemination and early diagnosis of gravidity, dental and ophthalmic care for pats. Mitrov said that by opening of the university hospital new standards and conditions are introduced for practice of the students, future doctors of veterinary medicine thus bringing closer to directives of the European Union in this sphere.
