Chinese company "Yutong" has delivered 68 new double-decker buses, several months earlier than agreed, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said on Wednesday.

The double-deckers are unique and designed in a 1950/60s style. The buses driven in Skopje are not in serial production, thus cannot be found anywhere else.

As part of the project for renewal of the public transportation car pool, 68 double-decker buses and 80 low-floor buses manufactured in Ukraine have already been put into use. The remaining 66 double-deckers are expected to be transported by the end of 2013.

The project envisages the procurement of 202 double-decker buses, 15 open double-deckers as well as 80 low-floor buses and 16 mini-buses, enabling the citizens of Skopje to use comfortable, safe and modern public transportation.
