Detonator police action confirms Government's determination to fight crime, says Gruevski
The "Detonator" police action is a confirmation of Government's strong determination to fight organized crime and corruption, PM Nikola Gruevski said Saturday.
"This action demonstrates once again that we keep our promises made as far back as during the election campaign in 2006. The Government is strongly committed to fight crime and corruption. In Macedonia no one can expect their close relations to a political party or influential individual to provide them with protection supposing they are involved in criminal activities," Gruevski told reporters.
The Interior Ministry's operation is still under way. Law-enforcement officials are in Kocani and its region to solve the case involving a racketeering group that terrorized people living in eastern Macedonia.
Congratulating MoI for successfully conducting the operation, PM Gruevski vowed that such actions would take place in the future.
"Whether it is organized or not, a crime is a crime, we will resume fighting against it regardless of one's ethnic origin, party and religious affiliation," Gruevski pledged.
