Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska and her Bavarian counterpart Joachim Herrmann signed Wednesday in Skopje a declaration of cooperation.

The Macedonian and Bavarian interior ministries will boost cooperation in the fight against crime, corruption, human trafficking and prostitution, child pornography, drug trafficking, computer crime, illegal production and trade of weapons and overall police cooperation which is in the interest of both countries.

"This document envisages cooperation to be advanced in relation to forensics and international trade with historical and cultural artifacts," Jankuloska stated after signing the declaration.

Minister Herrmann stressed that Bavaria was the safest province in Germany with lowest crime rate.

"We back Macedonia's EU membership bid, but we also have to take care of maintaining the security in Bavaria and thus, the cooperation with Macedonia is important," Herrmann stated.

It was concluded that the number of asylum seekers from Macedonia in Western Europe, especially in Bavaria, was slightly dropping.

"Macedonia is making efforts to tackle the issue. According to data, the number of false asylum seekers who entered Germany in 2011 has been halved. This means that the efforts of the Macedonian government yield results," the Bavarian Minister said answering a journalist question.
