The OSCE Mission to Skopje Thursday launched a package of two projects to train civil servants in law-drafting and improve the quality and inclusiveness of legislation, reads press release of the OSCE Mission.

The projects will support the ongoing regulatory reform in the country - which includes the establishment of a new legal and institutional framework for ex-post evaluation of legislation to ensure laws are well drafted and implemented - and to increase public participation and stakeholder consultation in the lawmaking process.

"The OSCE Mission has been and remains committed to assisting the national authorities in ensuring a transparent, inclusive and well-integrated lawmaking process that will result in better and clearer laws, that are easy to understand and implement, as well as ways to assess whether they are achieving the intended effects and public goals. This in turn contributes to greater adherence to the rule of law," said the Head of OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Ralf Breth.

The projects, supported by the OSCE Mission to Skopje, will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Information Society and Administration (MISA).

Ivo Ivanovski, the Minister for Information Society and Administration, added: "The advancement of the lawmaking process as well as the quality, access and implementation of legislation is a crucial aspect in the process of public administration reform. Reforming the lawmaking framework and policies is a goal which requires a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach. The Ministry and the Government continuously act to ensure sustainable and systematic improvements to the legislative process, the quality of legislation and the rule of law in the country."

The projects will be implemented in the course of 2012, continuing the efforts of the OSCE Mission to Skopje undertaken in this field since 2007.
