The Customs Administration of North Macedonia has placed the first sign for the Green Lane for the Open Balkan at the Tabanovce Border Crossing, at the entrance to North Macedonia, which is one of the first projects of the initiative that give a concrete and visible result for faster flow of goods, services, people and capital.
The most important benefit of the Green Lane for companies and transporters, as well as for the Authorized Economic Operators from the Open Balkan is the reduction of the waiting time at the border crossings. This is made possible through the priority in the passage and implementation of customs procedures with reduced and simplified physical and documentation controls.
By visually signalization of the Green Lane for the Open Balkan, the Customs Administration diverts transporters to improved movement of goods and reduction of the costs for export and import. Next week, such signs will be placed at the Kafasan border crossing at the entrance to North Macedonia, and then the same will be done by the partners from Serbia and Albania at the positions at the entrance from North Macedonia in those two countries.
The authorization for Authorized Economic Operator issued by the Customs Administration confirms that the person holding the AEO is a reliable and secure partner of the customs authority and has control over the procedures of its operation, and with the protocols for mutual recognition those certificates are equally valid for countries, which are part of the Open Balkan initiative.
This is a significant benefit for companies from the three countries that can move their goods faster and more efficiently.
