Gruevski: Meeting with PM Jiabao sends serious signal on China's interest to invest in Macedonia
China is interested in a project envisaging a technological and industrial development zone in Macedonia to be managed by Chinese companies. The project is expected to be further developed and analyzed by Chinese experts, which will be followed by additional discussions, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated after a working meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in Beijing.
Gruevski and Jiabao shared views on two other major projects in connection to energy and infrastructure.
"I sought support for three vital projects, but at the same time we've reviewed a group of five to six other projects that could be taken into consideration in the future. One project is related to energy, the other is a major project with regard to the construction of roads and the third one envisages a technological and industrial zone in Macedonia to be given to Chinese companies to build plants in Macedonia," PM Gruevski said.
PM Jiabao's comments were quite encouraging, according to him.
"Considering the technological and industrial zone, amongst other things, Jiabao said he was informed that Macedonia has made a huge progress regarding its relevant legislation and in view of the conditions in these technological and industrial development zones. In general, there is an interest for this project which is to be further developed and analyzed," Gruevski noted.
The other five-six projects that were discussed yesterday with representatives of Chinese companies are related to hydro power stations, roads and energy.
"In any case, the meeting with PM Jiabao was important and focused more on economic cooperation. This meeting shows that our stay here is welcomed. It is a serious signal when in the course of a road show - in which Macedonia's business opportunities are presented in five different cities across China in five days - the premier of China is organizing a reception. Thus, he indirectly is sending a signal that from a political point of view, China endorses Chinese companies to invest in Macedonia," PM Gruevski stated.
