PM Gruevski: China visit successful in political and economic terms

The week-long visit to five cities in the People's Republic of China, including Hong Kong, was successful in political and economic terms, assessed Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, who presented Macedonia's investment opportunities together with a Government team.

He stressed that the second meeting with his Chinese counterpart in two weeks was important from a political aspect.

"I would say Macedonia is the first country promoted in China after the Chinese Prime Minister said at the recent meeting with PMs from Central and Eastern Europe that the country would allocate US$ 10 billion as support for Chinese companies to invest in Eastern European countries", said Gruevski.

He added that Macedonia's investment opportunities were presented before about 500 Chinese companies.

"This is the first such presentation of Macedonia, an aggressive one, covered by media in all cities we visited, through presentations before investors and direct talks", said PM Gruevski.

According to him, the most important thing was the presentation of specific projects before the Chinese authorities, thus telling them which companies have shown interest to use a portion of the US$ 10 billion for investments in Eastern Europe.

The PM said future communication, both politically and economically, would help the attraction of Chinese investments in Macedonia.

"The Chinese PM was accompanied by deputy trade and foreign ministers, who were instructed to analyse the proposals by Chinese companies. I hope we will manage to attract some of those investments in Macedonia", underlined PM Nikola Gruevski.
