Go Pink campaign against breast cancer

First Lady Maja Ivanova, United States Ambassador Paul Wohlers, Minister of Interior Gordana Jankuloska and president of association "Borka" Biba Dodeva led Saturday the walk from Skopje central square within campaign against breast cancer, sending a message over the importance of early diagnostics and support for patients as basic prerequisite in beating the disease.

The 4. traditional campaign against breast cancer is titled "Go Pink 2012 - Walk against Breast Cancer", organized by association "Borka" in cooperation with NGO "Integrity Alpha & Omega" and the U.S. Embassy.

"Today we will walk for our fellow citizens, the women who lead a daily battle against breast cancer, whose life is faced with an enormous challenge, which requires support", said First Lady Ivanova, adding that breast cancer is a reality that can happen to any woman.

"Borka" president Dodeva said it was an honor to see many supporters, because the fight should not be left to others, since "that struggle is our own".

Minister Jankuloska said today's event confirmed the message that, "we are all together in this hard battle for those who lead it".

Ambassador Wohlers voiced his support for the campaign aimed at raising the awareness among citizens regarding the disease. As a sign of the campaign's support, the U.S. Embassy will be "colored" in pink on Saturday evening.

About 750 women in Macedonia are annually diagnosed with breast cancer.
