FM Poposki attends CEI ministerial meeting in Trieste

Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki took part Wednesday in Trieste at a meeting of foreign ministers of Central European Initiative (CEI) member states.

Views were shared at the meeting on current developments in CEI countries and activities were coordinated towards realization of joint regional projects, MoFA said in a press release.

FM Poposki in his address at the meeting reaffirmed Macedonia's commitment to the principles of neighborly ties, regional cooperation, reconciliation and inclusion by intensifying political, security, economic and cultural cooperation in the region. This kind of approach, he added, is necessary for future socio-economic development of the entire region and progress in view of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes. The minister stressed that the Central European Initiative was an excellent instrument for regional cooperation that facilitated and accelerated mutual interaction and communication of regional countries.

FM Poposki, in his capacity as future chairman of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), presented Macedonia's priorities during its chairmanship with the SEECP between June 2012 and June 2013 related to political, cultural, educational cooperation in SEE as well as government's strong commitment to meet the goals of the initiative.

Poposki underscored that Macedonia during its SEECP chairmanship would make efforts to advocate a synergy of all regional initiatives aimed at prompt integration of all regional countries into the European Union, stated the press release.
