Presentation of GRECO report on Macedonia
Justice Minister Blerim Bexheti presented Tuesday a report of the Council of Europe Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) on Macedonia's compliance to recommendations for incrimination and transparency of party funding.
The Compliance Report assesses the measures taken by Macedonia's authorities to implement a total of 13 recommendations related to above mentioned themes. With respect to Theme I – Incriminations - five have been implemented satisfactorily, one has been dealt with in a satisfactory manner, while one has been partly implemented. With respect to Theme II – Transparency of Party Funding - one recommendation has been implemented satisfactorily, three have been partly implemented and two have not been implemented.
For the implementation of these recommendation Macedonia has introduced amendments to the Criminal Code, the Electoral Law, while the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors organized a broad number of anticorruption training events, Bexeti told reporters.
Macedonia has been GRECO member since 2000. It has fully met all 17 recommendations of the first and 14 of the second evaluation round, closed in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
