Promotion of first titles of 'Stars of World Literature' edition

First 55 titles, part of the 'Stars of World Literature' edition, were promoted Sunday at the National and University Library 'St. Kliment Ohridski' in Skopje.

"Such literary works has always offered room for bringing people together, travelling beyond this world and revealing new galaxies, cultures. By launching of this project, Macedonia is opening the doors for the world's cultural values and meets the needs of the large domestic reading fans forum," Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the promoting ceremony.

The project aims to bring pearls of world literature to Macedonia's readers, Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said.

This edition puts Macedonia on the list of the great nations that have been nourishing the world literary heritage, she added.

The four-year Government's project will publish a total of 560 best works of the world literature translated in Macedonian language.

The edition 'Stars of World Literature' includes the literary trends of Ancient East, Greek & Roman periods, middle age, renaissance, baroque & classicism, pre-romanticism, romanticism, realism and the 20th century, as well as works of the Project Programme's annex.
