The Minister of Economy Valon Saraqini, World Bank Country Manager Lilia Burunciuc and the Mayor of the municipality Cair, Izet Mexhiti marked the start of the reconstruction activities in the elementary school “Lirija” on Thursday, where energy efficiency measures are to be implemented.

"The government and the Ministry of Economy are conducting several activities related to energy efficiency. The latest investment in energy efficience is in the elementary school in the municipality of Cair," Saraqini said.

The investment envisages a complete overhaul of the school building.

The $400.000 investment has been provided by the Ministry of Economy and the municipality Cair through a World Bank grant.

The Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with the World Bank, continues to implement such projects in four municipalities in the country. A total of 18 schools in six municipalities have been reconstructed during the first stage of the project.

The World Bank Country Manager, Lilia Burunciuc said that energy efficiency investments required accountability in spending public funds and presented an attempt in environment protection and education of students and citizens.
