“The Denar is stable, no reason to change exchange rate”, Mr. Stavreski says
“There is not a single reason to change the exchange rate of the Denar because it continues to be the best currency for saving money and will remain stable as long as VMRO-DPMNE carries out the economic policy in Macedonia.”, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski stated, rejecting the information presented on some Internet portals and social networks that the Denar will devaluate as speculations and lies.
“Officially, on behalf of the government, I deny these speculations. It is a sheer lie which is created to impose psychosis and fear amongst the people. My message to the nation and the economy is not to be deceived by sheer lies. There is not a single reason to change the exchange rate or any realistic economic factor which would justify this”, Mr. Stavreski said.
He said that the biggest guarantee of the stability of the Denar are the foreign exchange reserves which currently are at a historically highest level amounting to €2.96 billion which is by €820 million more compared to July 2006 when VMRO-DPMNE started to implement their economic policy. Apart from this, he underlined that the budget deficit is at a low level and the low national debt along with the stable banking sector ensure that the foreign exchange rates will continue to be stable.
